Facebook vs Twitter

Social Media; The way of the world. There is probably only a really small percentage of the country who have not logged into facebook and wasted a couple of hours doing jack shit! To those people who avoid Facebook and other social media sites I say GOOD ON YOU!!! And as for the rest of us we might as well kiss our freedom goodbye. Once you have been sucked in thats it! It is so hard to go back to living a normal social media free life, and I’m speaking from experience.

Posting photos, and status updates online has become a day to day thing for most people. As sad as this is it doesn’t stop there. People will think of a funny or witty status or take snap shots of what is happpening in their life and post it online, They then have to check every 5 mins to see if their friends have “liked” or commented on it. these days with smart phones and easy instant internet access, people are glued to their phones checking for comments. It’s sad but true. I have a friend who posted a photo, who then was checking every five minutes to see if people “liked” it. My friend made a comment “Only 5 people like my photo”. Seriously that is bad!

I am a social media victim. I use Twitter, Facebook, instagram and wordpress I know I know how can I get on with my life, my job and normal day to day things when I have all these sites I have to check? Well luckily I live a VERY busy life and actually have not a lot of time left in my day to sit down and Facebook people for hours at a time. the closest I get to doing that these days is checking the sites on my smart phone while sitting in busy Auckland rush hour traffic! I’m not saying I’m a saint and live a perfectly normal balanced life, infact I probably have one of the most unbalanced lifestyle one could ask for.

The question I ask is Facebook or Twitter, which do I prefer? A year ago I would of said “facebook” I used facebook not just daily but hourly, and some days it was more like every half hour of the day! Seriously I wasted way too much of my time on Facebook. These days however I tend to use Twitter a bit more than Facebook. Reasons for this include the fact that I can follow my idols, super stars, anybody famous with a twitter account I can follow them and know what they are up too. I have even interacted with a few of my idols which i love the fact that is possible through twitter. I’m not a brag but I have the lovely Kimberly Crossman follow me, and because of Twitter I have run into her on more than one occasion and she knows who I am and greets me with a hug! Now this is pretty cool in my opinion. I’m a huge fan of hers. Another one is Kim Dotcom. If it wasn’t for twitter I would not of got an invite to His Dotcom Mansion for the Mega launch party which I can say was a blast. He also greets me by name and knows who I am. I love twitter for these reasons I have also meet some pretty awesome people through twitter, meet them in person and have become proper friends.

Facebook, I tend to find myself spending less and less time on there, each time I am on there almost, i delete a few people who are just posting stupid shit that i can’t be bothered with. I no longer find myself looking through people’s photos, I just can’t be bothered.

So in my opinion Twitter wins the vote from me. xx
